Dr. Sergei Petukhov, DVM

Dr. Sergei Petukhov is a highly accomplished venture capital biotech investor with over 15 years of expertise in the field. He serves as a board member/board observer on numerous private and public biotech companies. Adept at generating profitable deal-flow pipelines for biotech VC funds, Dr. Petukhov has successfully executed Series A/B/C investments in early-stage pre-IND start-ups and later-stage phase 2/3/pre-NDA companies, boasting an exemplary track record of successful IPOs and M&A exits valued at over $3B.

With proven track record in generating profitable deal-flow pipelines and orchestrating successful investments, Dr. Petukhov has played pivotal roles in numerous biotech companies' growth and success. Throughout his career, he has held various influential positions, including Managing Director at AMR Action Fund (AMRAF), where he demonstrated exceptional leadership in structuring and negotiating Series B/C financing, securing transactions worth up to $40M each, deploying over $200M of the fund’s capital. 

As a Venture Partner at Starta Ventures Accelerator, he provided valuable consulting to health-tech enterprises and entrepreneurs, guiding them in start-up development and investment strategies. Additionally, as a Partner at Enso Ventures, Dr. Petukhov played a pivotal role in establishing the fund, generating crucial deal flow, leading due diligence processes, and strategically guiding portfolio companies to successful exits.
In earlier roles as an Associate at Rusnano Fund and a Scientific Advisor at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, Dr. Petukhov contributed to the establishment of biotechnology-focused investment departments, conducted comprehensive due diligence, and provided strategic advisory services to Big Pharma clients on their intellectual property (IP) matters.

Dr. Petukhov holds postdoctoral studies in Molecular Biology from The Rockefeller University and Population Council, Virology, and Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh, as well as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge. He also holds degrees in Biophysics and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology.
